The Role of Women

The Role of Women

Situated on the typical domestic object of an ironing board, this painting represents women's role in society. The figures are confined to spaces they do not always wish to be in. Painted in oil on canvas and cotton - I soaked a shirt in paint and glue which hardened, enabling me to paint over it. The iron represents the masculine force, with a christ-like figure overlooking the figures. Underneath, there is a female figure supports. I painted this for my A-Level 15 hour exam piece.

Temptations - Sitting on the Fence

Temptations - Sitting on the Fence

Focusing on young people in today's society, I created this painting to express the pressures that young people face. With elements of the bible looking at good and evil, right and wrong and which path to take I aimed to express the challenges and demands that are forced onto youth today. Painted in Oil on Canvas 1.7m/1.4m

Inspired by Gustav Klimt I painted this coffee table with cup and saucer. It represents the role of women in society, sometimes restricted to confined spaces. Oil on wooden table.

Boxed

Boxed

Painted into a small tin i wanted to express the beauty and fragility of women, as well as their strength and diligence. The outer tin reads "screw fix" an ironic reflection of the relationship between men and women. I lined the upper side of the tin with gold leaf, enhancing the beauty and of the female figure. Oil, Acrylic and Gold-leaf on tin.
